Most-read story # 1 - Sept. 8, 2011: Man Fires Gun; 75 Police, SWAT Converge on Northbrook Subdivision

Summary: Helicopters, police dogs and a police SWAT team converged on the Villas Salceda subdivision in Northbrook in September to coax an armed man out of his home after he got into a fight with his parents.

Steve Hadesman, 51, who was living with his elderly parents at the time, got into a verbal dispute with his mother and father, according to Northbrook Police Chief Charles Wernick. 

Leaving his wife behind, the man’s father went to the police station to report the fight. At some point, the son fired a shot, at no one in particular, according to Wernick. No one was injured.

His father went to the police station to report the fight and the fact that his son had weapons in the home. Police responded and cordoned off an area around the 2500 block of Salceda Drive as they made repeated attempts to contact the man. More than three hours after police arrived, Hadesman surrendered peacefully.

A separate situation on Partridge Lane Dec. 28 involving an armed man barricaded in his home .
