Driver Hijacks Car in Northbrook, Causes 3-Car Crash On Edens

Northbrook man allegedlly hijacked a car and took off down I-94 Saturday.

A Northbrook man who allegedly hijacked a car from the 3100 block of Dundee Road caused a multiple-vehicle crash with at least three injuries on I-94 Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Tribune reports that the man stole the car, then took off southbound on the Edens Expressway. Contrary to prior reports, no police vehicles were in pursuit, according to Northbrook Police Chief Charles Wernick.

Five cars altogether were involved in the crash, and three drivers were taken to the hospital, including the alleged hijacker, according to a representative of the Illinois State Police. Asked about the identity of the hijacker, the representative directed further questions to the Northbrook Police Department.
