Cook County police told the Northbrook Star that train operators saw the man come out from some bushes and lay down on the train tracks.
Train crews used their horn to alert the man, and released emergency brakes to stop the train, but the man did not move and the train could not stop in time.
The death has been classified a suicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
