Glencoe Woman Arrested for DUI in Northbrook

A man also tried to steal nearly $600 in merchandise from a Willow Road store.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DUI

Laura Maria Parkkunen, 24, of the 400 block of Woodlawn in Glencoe, was pulled over for traffic violations at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Highway at 2 a.m. July 16. An officer determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She was placed under arrest, released on $1,000 bond and given an Aug. 21 court date.

A man tried to steal $579 in merchandise from a business in the 800 block of Willow Road at 11:30 a.m. July 16. He’s described as a balding white man, about 50 years old, 6-foot 2-inches tall, with a thin build. Upon being confronted by an employee the man fled the parking lot in a blue VW.

Driving with a suspended license

Gilberto Valencia-Ortega, 26, of the 600 block of W. Washington Ave. in Lake Bluff, was stopped for a traffic violation at Willow and Waukegan roads at 12:30 a.m. July 17. Police learned that his driver’s license was suspended. He was arrested, released on $1,500 bond and given an Aug. 21 court date.
