Guzman Asks Judge To Remove Electronic Monitoring Device

Enrique Guzman asked a Cook County judge on Friday to remove him from electronic home monitoring so he can audition for acting gigs and look for other jobs, the Chicago Tribune reports. 

Guzman, a former Northbrook police officer, resigned from the police department in early February amid residential burglary charges. 

His attorney, Myron Goldstin, told circuit court judge Marcia Orr that Guzman is a part-time actor and needs to remove his electronic monitoring device so he can find a job to support his three children and take them to school, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Guzman was arrested after the FBI placed three hidden cameras in a home he was dispatched to investigate, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The camera footage caught Guzman entering a bedroom and pocketing a jewelry box with a fake diamond ring, which the FBI also planted, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

He was released on a $30,000.00 bond and turned in his firearms, FOID card, and passport and placed on electronic monitoring as conditions of his bond, according to the Village of Northbrook.
