Hit and Run Report Leads to DUI Drugs Arrest

A Northbrook man was arrested after driving into a light pole.

The following reports were provided by the Northbrook Police Department. Arrests and chargers are accusations and do not indicate guilt. 

DUI

On June 8, officers responded to a complainant of a Buick Lesabre that struck a light pole, left the scene and continued driving in an extremely erratic manner, according to reports. The vehicle was located, stopped and the driver lost his balance several times after exiting the car, according to police. 
The driver said he did not drink any alcohol but took prescription drug prior to driving, police say. Officers arrested Ryan Krepak, 20, of Northbrook, and charged him with DUI-drugs, improper lane usage, leaving scene of an accident and disobeying a red light, police say.

Underage Alcohol Consumption

On June 2, officers found a a young man on the 2300 block Shermer Road who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, according to police. The man admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol, then attempted to flee from police on foot, police say. The officer caught Omar Abdelhamid, 18, of Northbrook and charged him with resisting a peace officer and consumption of alcohol by a minor, police say. 

Later that night, on the same block, officers found a young woman vomiting in a bathroom, and she admitted drinking alcohol to officers, according to police. Police cited Saleh Sawsan, 19, of Northbrook, with consumption of alcohol by a minor, police say.

Burglary to Vehicle

On June 5, someone reported a laptop removed from the front passenger seat of the vehicle parked on the 200 block of Skokie Highway, according to police. 

On June 7, someone reported a Macbook Pro and charger were removed from a locked vehicle on the 1700 block of Pfingsten Road, according to police.
