House Fire Displaces Northbrook Family

No injuries were reported in the fire on Walters Avenue.

The following report was provided by the Village of Northbrook weekly staff memo.

On Sunday, June 30, at 9:19 p.m., firefighters responded to the 1400 block of Walters Avenue for a house fire. Upon arrival crews found a two story home with fire burning through the roof.

The two adult occupants left the house after a witness walking by told the residents that the house was on fire. Fire crews extinguished the fire using several hand lines. No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and it caused about $300,000 in damage.

Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours. Glencoe, Northfield and Lincolnshire Fire Departments responded to the scene to assist Northbrook in fighting the fire.

In addition, firefighters from Highwood, Wilmette, and North Maine backfilled Northbrook Fire Stations to respond to other calls during the incident.
