I-294 Crash Kills 1, Injures 4
Cesar Salas, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene after a Sunday morning crash near Northbrook and Deerfield.
A Vernon Township man was pronounced dead at the scene after a three-vehicle crash on Sunday morning on I-294, between Northbrook and Deerfield, near Lake Cook Rd., The Daily Herald reports.
Around 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Cesar Salas, 39, of Prairie View, was traveling south on I-294 when he rear-ended a tow truck, according to The Daily Herald.
The tow truck driver reportedly exited his vehicle to speak to Salas when a taxi carrying two passengers struck Salas's car and spun out. The taxi then struck the tow truck driver who was standing in the road. He did not sustain life-threatening injuries, reported the Chicago Tribune, which has a photo of the taxi.

After arriving to the scene, firefighters conducted an extrication operation and five ambulances were eventually called to the scene where the truck driver, cab driver and two taxi passengers were transported to a hospital, according to the Arlington Cardinal.
