Man Who Claimed to Have Hit Own Fence Really in Hit-and-Run, Police Say

Filing a false report

Gary B. Reagan, 51, of the 1600 block of Pfingsten in Northbrook, called police June 15 to file an auto accident report stating he had hit the fence in his yard and damaged the front of his truck. The investigating officer determined that there was no damage to his fence but considerable damage to the truck.

The officer learned that in the last two days, Reagan’s license plate had been run by several police agencies. Officers learned that his vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Buffalo Grove and they were looking for it. Reagan admitted that he had sustained the damage in that accident and not hitting his fence. He was charged with filing a false report, which is a felony, and has a June 25 court date.

Burglary to auto

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked at his work in the 3200 block of Doolittle between 2 and 11: 45 a.m. June 14 and removed a Garmin GPS valued at $300.           

$3,800 vacuum stolen

An employee who works for a service that maintains the air vacuums at service stations reported that the vacuum had been removed from the side of a building in the 400 block of Dundee Road. The vacuum is valued at $3,800. It was last seen three months ago when it was serviced.

Theft

The complainant related that he was at the skate park in the 1700 block of Techny Road and placed his wallet and car keys under a t-shirt next to a pillar at 6:30 p.m. June 16. After leaving the park he noticed that $102 was missing from his wallet.                                              

Stolen putter

Someone left the clubhouse in the 3500 block of Dundee Road with a Taylormade putter without paying for it June 14. The items value is $159.
