Nanny Charged With DUI, Child Endangerment

Police arrest Wheeling woman who was allegedly involved in a hit and run crash with three kids in the car.

A nanny was arrested last week with three kids in the car after she allegedly hit another vehicle while intoxicated and left the scene of the accident, according to police.

Lidia Zuradzka, 49, of Wheeling, was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and three counts of endangering the life of a child,  after her car and another vehicle collided around 3 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Western Avenue and Farnsworth Lane.

“It was a minor crash, but she left,” said Northbrook Community Relations Supervisor Mike Shep.

No one was injured in the accident, he added.

This incident is not Zuradzka’s first brush with the law. She was sentenced to a one-year jail term for criminal trespassing in 2006, according to the Cook County Circuit Clerk’s office. She spent four months in jail and was released in March 2011, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. She is currently on parole.

According to a Chicago Tribune article about the trespassing case, Zuradzka was charged after she allegedly entered a neighbor’s home and stole a bottle of alcohol. In addition to her sentence to a year in prison, Judge John Scotillo also ordered her to attend alcohol abuse counseling.
