National Night Out Makes A Splash In Northbrook

Police, Park District host evening of family fun.

Meadowhill Pool was the site of Northbrook's National Night Out Tuesday, a community event held by the and the . 

"We're just here tonight to have a good time, enjoy the pool and prevent crime," said Police Chief Charles Wernick.

Families gathered for some fun in the water, games, DJ entertainment, raffles and crime prevention tips.  Despite a thunderstorm that ended the event early, kids and parents left with smiles on their faces.

Northbrook's National Night Out was one of thousands held by police departments across the country on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, the community events are held every year to promote partnership between neighborhoods and local law enforcement. In 2010, more than 15,000 communities participated in the program, according to the National Association of Town Watch.
