Northbrook Blotter: Jewelry, Cash and Silver Stolen from Northbrook Apartments

The following information was supplied by the Northbrook Police Department. Arrests or charges do not indicate guilt.

Two Residental Burglaries in One Night

According to a Village of Northbrook staff memo, at least one unknown person attempted to enter three residences in the 153 Pointe Dr. condominium complex in the late afternoon of July 31. Entry was made to two units where jewelry, cash and silver items were removed. The police canvassed the area and found no other units were compromised. Video surveillance footage is being reviewed.

Police say they found pry marks on one door, but nothing appeared disturbed or removed. In another apartment that was entered, police say they observed open drawers, cabinets and closets. The homeowner reported jewelry and $3,600 missing.

A second apartment was entered, burglarized and ransacked, according to police. The homeowner reported missing silver, jewelry, watches and a metal coffee can containing $1,000.

On Aug. 4, police say three unidentified youths from Northbrook and one from Mt. Prospect appeared intoxicated at the Village Green during the Northbrook Days festival, and admitted to smoking cannabis when confronted by a police officer. One juvenile told police he had cannabis in his backpack along with three "Norco" pills, which were allegedly for a back problem. Police say they seized possession of the cannabis and pills to be analyzed by a crime lab. The juveniles' actions were submitted to police record, they were advised not to return to the carnival grounds, then released to their parents.

Pillow Flight!

On Aug. 5, an unknown person stole pillow cases and a duffel bag from Dial Cleaners, according to police. Authorities estimate losses of $75.
