Northbrook Dog Park Registration Starts Next Week

The Park District facility will be the only public area in Northbrook where dogs are allowed to run and play off-leash.

Have you been eagerly waiting for Northbrook's new dog park to open? The wait is almost over. Registration for the dog park starts Monday, Nov. 4, with a park opening planned for late November.

Access to the dog park requires an annual membership, which allows unlimited use of the park during daylight hours. Membership information is online on the Park District website, nbparks.org, and is available at the Leisure Center, Village Green Center and Northbrook Sports Center.

The dog park will be open to Northbrook residents who submit the following: proof of a current Village of Northbrook dog license, a completed Northbrook Dog Park Application, and a completed Northbrook Dog Park Veterinarian Verification Form. Dogs must be at least six months old.

The Park District is developing the dog park in response to growing interest in the community, as expressed in surveys and public meetings. Northbrook residents identified a dog park as an unmet need in the community, and they were able to review design concepts and discuss park features during a Public Input Meeting last year.

Dog park features include:

  • Completely fenced-in grounds
  • Enclosed 2-acre area for all dogs
  • Enclosed .5-acre area for small dogs (under 26 pounds)
  • Shelter
  • Dog wash
  • Tables and benches
  • Drinking fountain
  • Soft walking path
  • Parking for 37 cars
  • Lost and found box
The Park District facility will be the only public area in Northbrook where dogs are allowed to run and play off-leash.
