Northbrook Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Colliding with Car

A nearby baseball field was used as a landing pad for the helicopter that transported the man to the hospital.

A Northbrook man is in critical condition after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at the intersection of Waukegan and Shermer roads around noon Friday.

A Flight-for-Life helicopter was brought in to take the 23-year-old to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to information from the village.

A landing zone for the helicopter was set up on the baseball field at nearby Northbrook Junior High School. Emergency responders ensured that all students and staff were inside the building while the helicopter was on the field.

A 19-year-old woman from Bellwood, who was a passenger in the car involved in the crash, was taken by ambulance to the hospital in stable condition, the village press release said.

Traffic was diverted from the intersection for about two hours.
