2 Detroit Men Arrested With 103 Credit Cards

Two teenagers from Detroit were charged with identity theft after Northbrook police found 103 re-encoded credit cards during an arrest.

The following report was provided by the Northbrook Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations, and do not indicate guilt.

On March 5, Northbrook police arrested Dasai Mikal Harris, 19, and Joseph Caleb-Quinn Baker, 19, both from Detroit, on the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, according to police. 

Both men were charged with possession of an altered credit card, police say. Officers observed the suspects checking numerous credit cards to determine if they were active, according to police. As police approached the area, the subjects left, according to reports. Both men were stopped by police, numerous credit cards were found in the snow close to the suspects and police eventually located 103 re-encoded credit cards, according to the police report.

Harris told told officers that “people” made the credit cards for the suspects, and after checking the balances, the suspects planned to buy merchandise from stores and split the proceeds with the people who made the cards for them, accoding to police. 

The suspects are being held without bond, police say.
