The following arrest reports were provided by the Northbrook Police Department, and do not indicate a conviction. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Northbrook Police Department reports from December 19-24

 

Aggravated assault

- On Dec. 19 at 3:30 p.m., a complainant reported that a driver cut him off while driving in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. When the complainant confronted the driver, the driver allegedly pointed a black handgun out the window at him.

The defendant, Muneeb T. Khurshid, 20, of the 500 block of Le Parc Circle in Wheeling, was later stopped and arrested by Wheeling Police. Khurshid was charged with aggravated assault, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was taken into custody by Northbrook Police. The gun was later found to be a BB gun, according to police, and Khurshid was released on bond.

Residential burglary

- On Dec. 19 at 9:31 p.m., a resident in the 600 block of Anthony reported that someone broke into her house by kicking in the garage door sometime during the day. The only item reported missing at the time was a checkbook.

- On Dec. 19 at 1:58 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Cayuga reported that sometime between Dec. 16 and 19, her home was burglarized and an unknown amount of jewelry was stolen. 

- On Dec. 24 at 4:25 p.m., a resident in the 1900 block of Summerton reported that her house was ransacked upon returning home, and that someone appeared to have broken into the house through a basement window. Among the items stolen were a flat screen TV and a handgun.

 

Retail theft, arrest warrant

- On Dec. 23 at 3:17 p.m., police arrested Candice M. Issac, 21, of the 700 block of Karlove in Chicago. Issac was charged with retail theft and criminal damage to property after she allegedly stole a jacket and removed the anti-theft device from it while shopping at a store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd. 

While at the scene of the alleged theft, police also arrested Cassandra Lomax, 23, of the 1000 block of Kevdale in Chicago. After a computer search, Lomax was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant in DuPage County for retail theft, and was subsequently arrested by Northbrook Police.

- On Dec. 23 at 7:18 p.m., police arrested Patricia Castano, 48, of the 6700 block of Wellsley in Gurnee. Castano was charged with retail theft after she allegedly removed tags from items inside a Lord & Taylor store in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Rd. without paying for them.

 

Possession of cannabis, consumption of alcohol by an underage individual

- On Dec. 22 at 3:05 a.m., police arrested Ethan M. Steinberg, 20, of the 500 block of Charlemagne in Northbrook following a call of a suspicious person being on foot in the area. Steinberg was stopped in the 400 block of Versailles, then arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and consumption of alcohol by an underage individual.

- On Dec. 21 at 1:24 a.m., police responded to a call about an individual sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Shermer Road with their windows and doors open for approximately 25 minutes. Police arrested Nicole K. Hawkins, 19, of the 900 block of Pontiac in Wilmette, after allegedly observing her sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle with no shoes on and the keys in her hand.

According to police, Hawkins appeared to have glassy, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath. She refused a field sobriety test, police said. She was charged with consumption of alcohol by an underage individual and was picked up by a family member.

- On Dec. 20 at 12:34 a.m., police responded to a call in the 2500 block of Oak Ave., after receiving a noise complaint about a running vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities arrested Brian D. Shin, 22, of the 900 block of Spring Hill, and Alexander Lee, 20, of the 1900 block of Brentwood Road, both in Northbrook. Shin was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Lee was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage consumption of alcohol.

 

Theft

- On Dec. 20 between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., a customer at Potbelly's, in the 800 block of Skokie Road, reported that someone had taken two credit cards from her purse and charged items to them. The victim became suspicious after she hung her purse on a chair, switched chairs at one point while inside the restaurant, and later was contacted by the fraud department at her credit card company that advised her of the unauthorized charges. She also discovered her wallet was missing from her purse.

- On Dec. 19 at 10:40 p.m., a customer at AMC theaters, in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Rd., reported he left his cellphone inside the theater. However, the phone was never found or returned to employees working inside.

 

Burglary to auto

- On Dec. 19 at 12:14 p.m., a resident in the 2500 block of Oak reported that a pair of sunglasses and an I-PASS transponder was stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked on his property. The loss was estimated at around $100.

- On Dec. 19 between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., someone smashed the window of a vehicle parked on the 0-100 block of Revere, and stole the owner's radar detector from their dashboard. The loss and smashed window were estimated at a combined $400.

 

Credit card fraud

- On Dec. 19 at 12:03 p.m., an individual in the 2300 block of Waukegan Road told police someone made unauthorized withdrawals from an ATM with her credit card.
