Police: Man Flees Accident, Hides in Office Building

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Accident leads to arrest

Ezsteban Jose Ortiz, 18, of Arlington Heights, was involved in an auto accident with another vehicle in the intersection Willow and Shermer Rd. on Feb. 5 at 9:30 a.m., police said. He continued driving to the intersection of Patriot and Willow Rd where he stopped his vehicle and fled on foot. Responding officers from Glenview and Northbrook eventually located him on the third floor of an office building near Patriot Blvd. The defendant was arrested, transported back to the police department for processing on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, no valid drivers license and possession of drug paraphernalia. After posting $1,500 bond he was released to the Palatine police on a warrant for reckless driving. His court date is March 19.

Bianca Johnson, 32, of Chicago was stopped for a traffic violation at Dundee and Skokie Hwy on Feb. 3 at 10:15 p.m. The officer learned that the defendant’s Illinois driver’s license was suspended, police said. She was released on $1,500 bond and given a March 3 court date.  

James O. Ko, 34, was stopped for a traffic violation. Officers learned that the defendant’s driver’s license was suspended. He was processed on charges of driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance and expired registration, and released on $2,000 bond. His court date is March 12.       

iPhone goes missing

The complainant related that UPS delivered a package containing an iPhone 5 to an office in Skokie.  The person who received the package contacted UPS and related everything was included in the package except the phone itself.  The complainant is unsure where the phone went missing as it passed thru several locations prior to the final destination

Stolen jeans

Police say that Erica McLendon, 29, of Waukegan, and Tasia D. Lee, 20, of Chicago, were observed by store security TV removing senor tags from five pairs of jeans and placing them into a bag, at a store in the 100 block of Skokie Blvd Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m.. After they passed the last point of purchase they were stopped by store security. They were charged with retail theft and placed in cells awaiting bond court.
