Smoke Detector Saves Family From Fire

The fire had spread from the basement to a bedroom when fire crews arrived. No one was injured.

The following is from the Village of Northbrook:

On Sunday, June 22, at 4:14 am, occupants at 31 Bridlewood Road were awoken by their smoke detector.

Firefighters located and extinguished a fire in the basement that had extended into a bedroom on the first floor.

Fire crews utilized two fire hydrants for water supply and automatic aid was received from Lincolnshire/Riverwoods, Northfield, Glencoe, and Glenview fire departments. Paid on-call firefighters covered additional calls during the incident.

No injuries were reported and the occupants have relatives in town to stay with. The fire is currently under investigation and the preliminary cause appears to be electrical related.
