Suspect Charged After Armed Standoff In Northbrook

A 51-year-old Northbrook man was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct and possession of cannabis, according to police.

Steven M. Hadesman was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct and possession of cannabis, according to .

Hadesman, who lives with his elderly parents, allegedly got into a verbal dispute with his mother and father around 3:30 p.m. that day, according to Northbrook Police Chief Charles Wernick, who held a press conference after the event.

At some point, Hadesman fired a shot inside the residence, at no one in particular, Wernick reported in the press conference. No one was injured.

Leaving his wife behind, the man’s father went to the police station to report the fight.

“He stated there were multiple weapons in the home,” Wernick said. 

Helicopters, police dogs and a police SWAT team converged on the subdivision, cordoning off an area around the 2500 block of Salceda Drive for roughly three hours as they made repeated attempts to contact the man. 

Sometime after 7 p.m., Hadesman surrendered peacefully and was transported to the hospital for observation, Chief Wernick told reporters during the press conference. Police recovered one weapon, a handgun.

A bond hearing is set for Wednesday, Sept. 28.
