Thief Shatters Glass, Steals Cash At Nail Salon

Police reported a burglary at Le Nail Spa last Monday, Aug. 8.

A burglar smashed the front window of a Northbrook nail salon and took $400 in cash, police reported.

Last Monday, Aug. 8, an employee came in early to open Le Nail Spa, located at Skokie Boulevard and Lake Cook Road, and noticed that the front door was shattered. When police arrived, they observed that someone had entered the salon and ransacked the area around the front desk.

Owner Leon Le was at home when police called to notify him of the burglary.

“I saw the front door broken in, everything in shadow,” he said. Although the shop was a mess, nothing besides the cash and change from the register had been stolen. The salon’s nail equipment and TV were still in place, he said.

Le opened the business more than a year ago because he saw a demand for nail salons in Northbrook, he said. Previously, he owned stores in Arlington Heights and Crystal Lake.

“I never would have expected this in this kind of area,” he said. “It’s an upscale salon.”

The burglary remains under investigation, according to Deputy Police Chief Louis Caruso.
