Two Women Arrested for Meat Theft

A $100 counterfeit bill was also used at a local restaurant.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Retail theft

Maria J. Hernandez, 18, of the 100 block of Chariot in Wheeling, and Rosie Mendoza, 28, of the 400 block of Pleasant Run in Wheeling, were arrested after witnesses identified them as the offenders that stole merchandise from a store in the 4100 block of Dundee Road on May 18. At the time of the theft, the offenders were observed leaving the store with a shopping cart filled with meat. Witnesses supplied the officers with a vehicle description and license plate that lead to the arrest.

Counterfeiting

A complainant reported that a female patron at a restaurant in the 1000 block of Willow Road purchased an order and paid for the order with what appears to be a counterfeit $100 bill on May 29. The restaurant will check to see if the transaction was captured on surveillance video.      

Vehicle damaged

The side mirror on a vehicle was damaged while it was parked unoccupied in a company parking lot in the 2300 block of Carlson Drive May 30.                                                                  

Mailbox damaged

Someone damaged a mailbox in the 600 block of Charlemagne Dr. between May 31 and June 1.
