County Judge Rules Against Gene Marks

Northbrook will not hold a February primary prior to the scheduled, April election.

Candidate Gene Marks and his running mates filed a lawsuit Tuesday with the Cook County Circuit Court to pressure the County Clerk's Office to schedule a February primary that could have helped Marks earn a spot on the village's April ballot without submitting a ballot application, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The next day, the judge ruled against Marks and said the clerk's office doesn't need to schedule a primary, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“It seems that while our office is very supportive of ballot access and giving candidates opportunities to be on the ballot, there is a filing process in place that Marks attempted to circumvent,” Cook County clerk spokesperson Courtney Greve recently told the Northbrook Star
