IDOT to Close Shermer at Dundee From May to August

Shermer Road will be closed between Lee and Dundee roads from May 1 through Aug. 1 for bridge repairs.

Heads up, drivers: bridge work on Shermer Road this summer will shut down a popular cut-through for drivers heading between the Edens Expressway and central Northbrook.

From May 1 through Aug. 1, the Illinois Department of Transportation is planning to close Shermer Road between Lee and Dundee roads in order to replace parts of the bridge over the middle fork of the north branch of the Chicago River.

Work will be conducted by the Des-Plaines based Lorig Construction Company at a cost of $364,887, according to the village of Northbrook.

During construction, drivers will be rerouted to Dundee and Waukegan roads. The westbound left-turn lane onto Shermer from Dundee will also be barricaded and the traffic signal's left-turn arrow will be shut off.
