Letter to the Editor: Tree Is True Representative of 10th District

Reader says the Democratic candidate has values that will attract both liberal and independent voters.

Editor's Note: This letter was submitted in response to an earlier letter to the editor, ""

The  gridlock which has crippled Washington during the last several years has been caused by politicians, most notably in the House of Representatives, who represent special interests on both sides of the political spectrum and who refuse to come to a consensus and move forward with programs to benefit our nation.

Bob Dold signed Grover Norquist’s pledge and has therefore made a contract with the Tea Party not to agree to any of the sensible liberal policies which represent the interests of the 99% of us in the 10th district.  In fact he voted almost every time with the special interests of his party.  He voted against raising the debt ceiling, against women’s rights, against eliminating the Bush era tax breaks for the richest 2% and much more.

John Tree believes that we are a nation that takes care of our less fortunate.  He believes in a fair and balanced approach to our budget problems—an approach that includes eliminating wasteful inefficiencies in government and jobs and education programs to move our country and our district forward.

John’s values are the great liberal values which represent the democrats and the independents necessary to beat Dold in the general election.

To paraphrase John:  The house of Representatives was created by our forefathers to be the legislative body which truly “represents” the people of each district. Those representatives   must then form a consensus to legislate on the nation’s behalf.  As our congressman, he wants to represent the best interests of all the constituents of our district and not any special interest group on the left or right.

He’s also anxious to reach across the aisle and form a consensus with any and all sensible Republicans in order to break the gridlock in Washington

With John‘s experience as a military officer in the Pentagon, his executive business experience, even his missionary experience, he is the most qualified and credible candidate to speak to Democrats and the all-important independents and remove Bob Dold.

Possibly the most important change we need to effect in this next election is the return to sanity and consensus government in the House of Representatives.  Let’s get it right in the 10th District.
