Mission Hills Residents Condemn Development at 8-Hour Hearing

A Cook County board is considering a development that would add 137 homes to the area.

Many Mission Hills residents showed up Monday for what turned into an eight-hour hearing to speak out against a proposed 137-unit development in their neighborhood, according to an article in TribLocal.

A meeting two weeks ago was postponed after residents overwhelmed the Northbrook Village hall. Instead, the meeting was held Monday at Glenbrook North.

The development would replace nine holes of the Mission Hills Country Club, and residents told the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals that it would harm their views and property values, the article says. The developers countered with experts who said it would improve the area. There is also a legal question of whether the developer can create a new planned development because the residents argue that the site is part of their current planned development.
