Northbrook Food Truck Policy Under Negotiation

Toasty Cheese, Little Louie's and Roadside Grill joined Northbrook's Communications & Legislation Committee in a conversation about the village's food truck policy.

On June 11, the Communications & Legislation Committee held a meeting to discuss potential food truck regulations in the Village. Three food vendors attended the discussion, including Toasty Cheese, Little Louie’s and Roadside Grill, along with representatives of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce.

During the meeting, village staff presented research regarding license, operational and locational mobile food vendor regulations that are enforced in several surrounding communities.

After the discussion, the board members generally agreed that the village should establish some level of regulation, but requested that the conversation be continued before any formal changes are introduced to village policy.

Committee members also requested additional information from staff about health and safety inspection procedures, an investigation of noise regulations and how the downtown area could be regulated differently than other commercial areas.

Village staff plans to hold another committee meeting later this summer.
