Northbrook Plan Commission Votes Against Techny Car Wash

In a 5-4 vote, the commission voiced concerns that the location isn’t suitable for such a business.

In a 5-4 vote, Northbrook’s Plan Commission voted against a proposed Techny car wash and gas station, leaving the final, controversial decision in the Village Board’s hands, according to an article in the Northbrook Star.

Neighbors have voiced concerns over traffic, noise, lighting and possible environmental issues for the proposed 2370 Waukegan Rd. business.

Commissioners said it was ultimately a question of location and feeling that the business would be too close to residences, the Star article says. The proposal will come before the Village Board on Tuesday.

The Planning Commission is a JOKE. The 5 dissenters should all be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully, the Village Board is more welcoming to business than this group. Anything and Everything that could bring tax revenue to our community is shot down. But if Northbrook needs another senior center, I know this board will give its okay! Northbrook is dying because of this board. Sad to see this happen.

Wah wah wah TR. Glad to see that the plan commission cares about maintaining the character of a bedroom community.

If you want to live in "Schaumburg" Move! Most people here in Northbrook are happy with our bedroom community!

This is ridiculous. Waukegan Road at Willow is a commercial district. The neighbors to the car wash would be a drug store and a bank. It is ironic that if you go a few miles north to Waukegan and Shermer, you will find a car wash, a drug store and bank. If Northbrook continues to shoot down every commercial business that tries to come in, how will we be able to afford a tennis club that we don't need?!? Oh that's right, just raise the property taxes for the residents.
