Public Can Assess Five Seasons Design Concepts, Cost at Public Meetings

Three meetings will be held June 26 and an online survey is open through June 20.

The Northbrook Park District is holding a series of public meetings and has created an online survey about the proposed purchase of the Five Seasons Family Sports Club.

The following information is from the Northbrook Park District:

On Thursday, June 26, the Northbrook Park District will hold three Public Input Meetings regarding the proposed purchase of Five Seasons Family Sports Club for an inter-generational community recreation center. At each meeting, architects will present design concepts with projected costs for Northbrook residents to review.

The times and locations of the meetings are as follows:

11am-12:30pm          Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road – Community Room

In addition, the Park District is inviting Northbrook residents to complete a survey to share their opinions about the proposed purchase and possible renovations to the Leisure Center. The survey is available online at nbparks.org. For those who prefer a paper survey, printed copies can be picked up at the Northbrook Senior Center, inside the Leisure Center. Through a series of brief, multiple-choice questions, residents can express their level of support for specific amenities that could become part of the proposed recreation center.

The survey will close on Friday, June 20 at 4pm. Printed copies must be returned to the Senior Center by noon on June 20. The results will be included in the District’s Feasibility Study, along with public comment from focus groups, stakeholder meetings, emails and Open Houses. That study will be presented to the Park Board of Commissioners in July.

The proposed purchase is contingent on Northbrook voters’ approval of a referendum in the November 2014 election. The District is pursuing the purchase of the sports club to provide expanded indoor programming space and enhanced recreational opportunities, in response to a need expressed by residents for many years in surveys, public forums and focus groups.

Residents who are unable to attend one of the meetings can email comments and questions to info@nbparks.org or call 847·897·6180.  Information about the proposed project is online at nbparks.org.
