Sanitary Sewer Lining Begins Today

A contractor will be doing work on sewers around town beginning Monday, Oct. 4.

Wondering what's up with that truck outside your home? This week Michels Corporation will be doing work on sewers around town, adding lining to different sections as part of a contract with the Village of Northbrook.

According to Village Hall, the contractors will be inserting plastic linings into the sewer main as a way of extending sewer life. Those sewers that need the most work have been prioritized and will be addressed first.

Residents in properties affected by the sewer lining should have received notices requesting that they refrain from producing excessive waste water (by washing clothes or dishes) for about 12 hours while work is conducted.

Residents near the sewer work may also smell a "plastic odor," according to Village Hall, but that smell should go away within a few hours. If it persists longer, villagers are advised to call the Public Works Department at 847-272-4711.
