'Significant' Increase in Northbrook Permit Applications

Two recently issued permits bring this month's issue rate 15 percent over last year's July rate.

The Department of Development & Planning Services continues to see a significant increase in building permit activity. Last week, DPS issued permits for two major construction projects. The building permit for the new multi-story building at Covenant Village was issued and brought in more than $260,000 in permit revenue.

A building permit was also issued for the Old Willow Road Sports Complex, bringing in more than $68,000 from fees).

In terms of major permits issued, at the end of June 2013, DPS was already running about 36 percent ahead of 2011 and 15 percent above 2012.

Permit activity for new single family homes has also been significantly higher. In the past three months, the Architectural Control Commission has reviewed 21 new single family homes.
