Tax Break Extended to Lure Developer to Skokie Blvd. Property

The Northbrook Village Board approved the extension for the 18 acres, which Walmart was eyeing last year.

The owners of the 18-acre property at 1000 Skokie Blvd will continue to get a tax break on the land in hopes of luring a developer who wants to buy it, the Northbrook Star reports.

Walmart withdrew its proposal to build there late last year after public outcry over the proposal.

The tax break was first given to the owners in 2006, the Star article says. Northbrook trustees recommended granting a third extension at a meeting earlier this month.
