Techny Road Project Ahead of Schedule

Village officials project Techny Rd. construction to end on Dec. 31.

The following items were part of a weekly Village of Northbrook community report.

Techny Road Project

Construction along Techny Rd. continued last week with the completion of the installation of the last two segments of box culvert, which marks the completion of the underground sewer work. Work for this week includes installation of the binder course on the north half of Techny Road.

The project is now just slightly over 75% complete. The anticipated final completion date is December 31, 2012. According to village officials at last week's Board of Trustees meeting, the Techny Rd. project is a year ahead of schedule.

Water Main Breaks

Last week, public works crews repaired 10 water main breaks and assisted with a private repair. Of the 10 breaks, eight were shears and two were splits. Both of these types of breaks are indicative of changes in temperature and the shifting of the ground; these types of breaks are normally experienced as it gets colder and we enter winter.

Light Pole Repainting

Last week, the village’s contractor, DiVinci Painters, began repainting 66 decorative light poles on Cherry Ln., Church St., and Shermer Rd. in the Central Business District. The poles are being cleaned and repainted to remove rust and extend the life of the poles. The project is currently about 50% complete and is expected to end by Friday, Oct. 19.
