U.S. Issues Travel Alert After Death of Osama Bin Laden

Travelers urged to take extra caution.

The U.S. State Department has issued a warning to people living or traveling abroad in the wake of Osama Bin Laden's death, because of the possibility for anti-American violence.

It is recommended that travelers stay in their homes or hotels and avoid mass gatherings or demonstrations. It is also recommended that travelers stay aware of current media coverage.

Travelers are encouraged to sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, a free service provided by the U.S. government, which allows them to enter their travel plans so that the U.S. Department of State can better assist them in case of an emergency.
