How to Make a Quick $250K: Find a Buyer for the Suburbs’ Priciest Mansion

The real estate agent who finds a buyer for the $18.75 million Winnetka mega-mansion will get the hefty bonus.

It’s quite an incentive.

The real estate agent who finds a buyer for the Chicago suburbs' most expensive mansion will take home a $250,000 bonus, according to an article in Crain’s Chicago Business.

Winnetka’s 27,000-square-foot Le Grand Reve mansion has been on the market for five years. A significant price reduction — from $32 million when it was first listed to the current $18.75 million — hasn’t yielded a buyer.

So the sellers are getting creative. Crain’s reports that the $250,000 bonus will be in addition to the standard 2 percent commission. Meaning the lucky agent will take home a total of $375,000.

If the home sells for the asking price, it would be the most expensive home sale on record in the Chicago area.
