Dance Team Dedicates Performance To Beloved Glenbrook North Teacher

Glenbrook North's Orchesis dance team has dedicated their annual show to their coach, Diane DeRosa Reynolds, who has been on sick leave from the school.

Glenbrook North's Orchesis dance team is performing their annual show this weekend. Titled "Rise," the three night run is dedicated to the dancers' instructor, Diane DeRosa Reynolds, who has been on sick leave for the last few months.

Laura Kuper, the mother of a freshman and sophomore in Orchesis, said Reynolds is like a second mom to the dancers.

"The amount of love and respect she gets from the girls is second to none," Kuper said. "She makes them feel like they can do anything."

Patch caught the "Rise" dress rehearsal and spoke to a group of about 10 senior dancers about the show and their beloved coach. The girls had a lot on their mind and spoke two or three at a time, but the their admiration for Reynolds was loud and clear.

"We really love her, we really miss her and we can't wait to see her," one of the dancers said.

"We haven't seen her in two months," another explained.

One of the dancers started to tear up.

"It's more of a passion than a job for her," a girl chimed in.

"She wants us to do better than our best. She expects a lot, she's tough on us."

"Rise" will run for three nights at the Glenbrook North Center for Performing Arts, Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10 or in advance by calling Beth Figaro at (847) 509-2597.
