District 225 Outlines Goals for 2011-12 School Year

The administration identified 12 goals in various categories intended to focus on district improvement during the coming school year.

The administration of  has pinpointed 12 goals to focus on for the next school year, officials recently announced.

The schools design their own goals each year, striving to provide an annual direction to help focus efforts as an organization, said district spokeswoman Karen Geddeis.

The 12 goals are focused in the areas of  curriculum, employee relations, environmental, financial, organizational planning, public relations/communications, strategic vision and technology.

The goals include:

  1. Raise the level of student engagement.
  2. Raise the level of employee engagement.
  3. Reduce overall energy consumption by 10 percent during next fiscal year.
  4. Reduce paper use, print volume and mailings by paper use by 10 percent during next fiscal year.
  5. Reduce ongoing district expenditures by $500,000 for fiscal year 2013.
  6.  Evaluate administrators based on professional standards that promote professional growth and improvement.
  7. Increase awarenes of the district through website redesign, e-newsletter, a district branding campaign and developing a district policy for communications.
  8. Improve official district communications with students and parents, using social media and student media sources.
  9. Improve internal communications and revise crisis communications procedures.
  10. A strategic vision for the district with review of the district's strategic vision for 2010.
  11. Increase the consistency and predictability of technology resources, to develop long-range plan of district-supported technology implemented in fiscal year 2013.
  12. Ensure the successful operation of technology systems during disaster and crisis situations.

Costs of the plan have already appropriated in their respective program budgets, Geddeis said.

“These goals are designed to compliment the individual school improvement plans and serve as a base for collaboration and the sharing of best practices,” said Superindent Mike Riggle in a statement.
