Lecture Event: The Journey of Aging

As we or members of our family age and experience illness, our roles, lifestyles and decision-making approaches change. Activities that we thought we’d face later in life become more immediate needs. Knowledge and information can empower us during this time and help us through the journey.

Carol Nevin, a local realtor and counselor, will share what she learned in her personal journey as her husband’s health declined and she faced the struggles associated with managing his health and daily needs. She will describe her process of moving him into a nursing home, selling their home and relocating to a local retirement community. She will offer insights and advice on navigating the system as you experience lifestyle changes as a result of an advancing illness. Suggestions and resources for families facing similar life transitions will be provided.

Admission is free. This program is open to the public. To RSVP, please contact Linda Rockwell at (847) 556-1778. Or visit us at www.carecenter.org for more information about this and other topics featured in the months ahead.
