Glenbrook North High School ranked 26 on a Washington Post list of the state’s most challenging high schools. Nationally it is ranked 917. Fewer than 10 percent of high schools nationally made the list.
That's a higher ranking than it's earned the past several years on the same list and is one spot above Glenbrook South.
The ranking uses the number of college-level tests given at the school divided by the number of graduates.
College Prep School of America in Lombard ranked No. 1 in the state but Chicago Public Schools dominated the top of the list, taking four of the top six spots; Walter Payton College Prep, Lincoln Park High School, Whitney M. Young Magnet and Jones College Prep were in the 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots. Adlai E. Stevenson in Lincolnshire ranked No. 3.
