GBN Students Improvise For Tornado Relief

Glenbrook North students raised more than $1,200.00 to help the victims of the Washington, IL tornadoes.

The following story was provided by District 225.

The Glenbrook high schools recently organized a series of events to help those affected by the Washington, IL tornadoes last month.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, GBN and GBS joined to make locals laugh - in the name of good cause. Eight kids from each school faced off in a Comedy Sportz improvisational fundraiser that incorporated audience suggestions to influence the scenes.

The show raised more than $1,200 for tornado relief in Washington.

GBN theater director Julie Ann Robinson said she hoped for a packed house so money can go to rebuilding Washington High School's drama program, which recently lost nearly everything in the disaster.

"Everyone wins in this competition because it all goes to a good cause," she said. "We hope we can make a difference, especially since they had to cancel their upcoming play."
