Spartans Rush Past Titans in Rival Win

Glenbrook North beat Glenbrook South for the first time in eight years at Friday night's varsity football game.

Grant Rushing's 16 yard run with 44.7 seconds remaining gave football the 21-14 lead over to earn the Spartans their first victory against rival Titans in eight years, the Northbrook Star reports

GBS (1-2) quarterback Max Cohen connected a 41-yard pass with Brett Laurie for the game's first touchdown, but GBN (2-1) tied the game on the next drive with a 67-yard pass to Nick Cox. A second touchdown gave the Spartans a 14-7 lead before halftime.

With 7:02 remaining in the game, Titans' QB threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Cody Carroll for the game's second tie, until Rushing's game winning run.

This is the Spartans' second victory in three games, on the heels of their home opener win last week against Lane Tech. They lost to John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights at the season opener two weeks ago, but that game also marked Brendan Carahar's first career interception. Caraher's brother and fellow Spartan, . 

"I was actually shocked, I wasn't really expecting that," Brendan Carahar said of the interception in an interview with ABC 7 after the Hersey game. "I was just thinking about the game, focusing on the game right there. I wanted to win."
