Northbrook’s Caribou Coffee Closing

Instead of re-opening as a Peet's, the store will shutter next week.

Downtown Northbrook’s Caribou Coffee at Shermer and Meadow roads is slated to close May 25, according to an article in the Northbrook Star.

The chain’s owners had said they were going to convert most of the Caribou shops into Peet’s Coffee & Tea stores, which are owned by the same company, but decided that 10 of those stores — including the Northbrook one — weren’t viable enough to make the switch, the article states.

The store opened in 2011 in the former Northbrook Garage space and provided a gathering spot for people downtown.
