Celebrity Golf Tournament in Northbrook

Scheduled guests in next Monday's golf tournament at Mission Hills Country Club include Bears players Devin Hester, Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall.

Chicago Bears Team Chaplain Ray McElroy is hosting the First Annual Celebrity Golf Invidtational on Monday, Sept. 24 at Mission Hills Country Club on behalf of his A Ray of Hope on Earth charity, a charity dedicated to empowering youth, changing lives and making a difference for young adults.

As a spiritual mentor, McElroy works with the Bears along with other athletes and coaches from various sports.

McElroy also mentors kids daily on the importance of off field behavior, school and education. He helps with goal setting, making good choices and focusing on the future.

For the Chicago Bears he hosts a weekly bible study for players and the coaching staff. He has pre-game chapel service, weekly women’s bible study for spouses and significant others, pre-martial counseling and one-on-one mentoring.

In the summers, he hosts the Ray McElroy Pro Football Youth Camp where boys ages 8 to 18 can receive basic, fundamental athletic instruction and competitive team drills, while learning from some of the best former professional and college football players and coaches.

Confirmed participans in the invitational include athletes such as, Anthony Adams, Jerry Azumah, Earl Bennett, Michael Bush, Jason Campbell, Desmond Clark, Kellen Davis, Matt Forte, Rashied Davis, Geno Hayes, Devin Hester, Israel Idonije, Johnny Knox, Brandon Marshall, Shea McClellin, Josh McCown, Steve McMichael, D.J. Moore, Stephen Paea, Nick Roach, Matt Spaeth, Otis Wilson, Corey Wootton and James “Big Cat” Williams.
