Sled, Skate, Ski & Snowshoe this Winter

Take a time-out from the stress of the holidays to enjoy plenty of winter fun with family and friends.

Bundle up and head outdoors to enjoy some frosty fun this winter. The Northbrook Park District provides opportunities to sled or ice skate.

Ice Skating rinks are open daily until 9 p.m. and are lighted. They are located at:

  • Meadowhill Park, 1479 Maple Ave., adjacent to Northbrook Junior High
  • Tower Rink, 1225 Cedar Lane, behind Village Hall

Rental skates are available at the Sports Center for $8/day.

Sled Hills are open daily and have restrooms on site. They are located at:

  • Wood Oaks Green Park, 1150 Sanders Road – Open dawn to dusk
  • Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road. – Lighted, open until 9 p.m.

The ice rinks and sled hills are not supervised, skating and sledding is at your own risk. Snowboarding and ramp building are not permitted on the hills.

Skiing and snowshoeing are available at Sportsman’s Country Club, 3535 Dundee Rd., from sunrise to sunset. The club offers trails, wooded fairways and small hills. You can bring your own equipment or rent from the clubhouse.

Rentals are open Tuesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Closed Christmas and New Year’s Day).

Candlelight skiing is also available on Dec. 29, Jan. 25 and Feb. 23 from 5-8 p.m. if conditions permit.
