Spartan Roundup 11/7: Girls XC Wraps Up Season at State

Glenbrook North girls swimming took second in conference as fall sports wind down.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Valerie Bobart, Ellery Marrinan and Katherine Weber each earned top 75 spots at the state meet Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Bobart was the top Spartan runner with a time of 18:03 to take 59th. Marrinan came in just behind in 65th while Weber finished 71st. All three will be back next year to lead the cross country team again.

GIRLS SWIMMING: The Spartans this weekend at Deerfield. The Warriors defended the title by topping the Spartans 456-411. Stephanie Horowitz won the 200 and 500 freestyle races while Molly Orbon won the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. Orbon, Horowitz, Christina Park and Abigal Rosenberg gave GBN a win in the 200 free relay. The swimmers head to sectionals at Glenbrook South on Saturday.

BOYS HOCKEY: North extended its unbeaten run to five games following a 3-0-1 week. The Spartans tied Stevenson 1-1 and beat York 7-1 in High School Invitational Tournament games. In Metro North action, GBN beat Lake Forest 8-0 and New Trier Blue 2-0. They are now 13-6-3 and 7-0 in conference play. The Spartans will try to keep the streak going Wednesday when they host Evanston.
