One Glenbrook North team's season ended, while another got a step closer to a state title.

BOYS BASKETBALL - GBN, the No. 5 seed in the New Trier Sectional, made it to Friday's regional final at home, but were in a 69-65 loss. Abdel Nader was the star of the show, scoring 36 points for the Vikings. Senior Peter Szostak had a strong game, with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Joe Prince scored 21 points. To get to the final, they . Andrew McAuliffe scored 16. The Spartans finish the season with at 19-9.

HOCKEY - The Spartans survived a against Loyola Gold on Saturday to advance to the Blackhawk Cup semifinals. Senior Jack Day netted two goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist in the 5-4 win. GBN gave up a goal in the first minute of the game and fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but rallied to take the lead in the second. Freshman Nick Day scored to give the Spartans a 4-3 lead in the third, but Loyola tied it with 48 second remaining. Troy Carroll made 37 saves to hold off the Ramblers until the older Day brother gave GBN the win. Next up for the Spartans, seeded fifth in the state tournament, is top seeded Fenwick Monday night. The winner gets the New Trier Green/St. Rita winner at the United Center on Sunday.
