Spartan Roundup Nov. 29

The boys hoops team started its season in style and Spartan hockey had a big week.

BOYS BASKETBALL - The hoops squad started the season with a 4-0 record in the Schnurr Thanksgiving Tournament at Niles West. They defeated , Lake Forest,  and Chicago Vocational and won every game by double digits. Sophomore Andrew McAuliffe leads the Spartans in scoring as part of the team's tall front court.

WRESTLING - Spartan wrestling began the season by . However, seniors Andrew Maksimovic, Barret Zoph and Adam Pines went 3-0 on the day. Coach Mark Rebora said he expects big things out of the senior trio this year, since Maksimovic and Zoph both qualified for sectionals last year.

BOYS HOCKEY - The rivalry game between Glenbrook North and South took place Wednesday in front of a big crowd at the Glenview Ice Center. The Spartans pulled out a . Sophomore Garrison Sanipass had the game-winning goal with 4:48 left in the third period. The team kept the momentum rolling by winning the Stevenson Thanksgiving Tournament. GBN won five games in three days, all by multiple goals, including 4-2 wins over Stevenson and Rockford in the semfinals and finals, respectively.
