Spartans Knocked Out In First Round of Playoffs

Glenbrook North lost 53 to 7 against Wheaton North on Friday night.

In the first round of Class 7A football playoffs, Wheaton North beat Glenbrook North 53 to 7 on Friday night, High School Cube News reports.

Spartans Danny Ahern and Michael Keane played quarterback instead of GBN's usual QB, A.J. Spitz, who was out of the game due to a high ankle sprain he endured in the 21-17 win over Highland Park on Oct. 25, according to High School Cube.

"[Spitz] came out here and starting running on it and just couldn’t do it," GBN coach Bob Pieper told CSL Insider. "The trainer and I said we’ll make a decision right before the game and I wasn’t going to put him in an opportunity to get himself hurt any more than that. He wouldn’t have been able to play."

"It was my dream to play in a game this year and throw a touchdown pass and I did just that and that was very exciting," Keane told CSL Insider about his scoring drive that earned GBN its touchdown.
