10th Annual Juried Art Show - Journeys - at Northbrook Public Library

10th Annual Juried Art Show Opens at the Northbrook Public Library Opening Reception, Friday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m.

The Northbrook Public Library will celebrate its tenth year of annual juried art shows with the opening of Journeys, which will be held from October 12 through November 30, 2012. A public preview and reception will start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 12 at the Library (1201 Cedar Lane).The opening event will include live music, light refreshments, viewer’s choice voting and the opportunity to speak with the artists about their work. The show features artwork from across the country selected by two distinguished jurors: Jeanine Coupe Ryding, an Associate Instructor in Printmaking at the Chicago School of the Art Institute; and Judith Joseph, a local painter. The 74 works chosen for the show include drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography and mixed media. 373 pieces were submitted by 131 artists for the show.

This year’s prizes include a $2,000 First Place Purchase Prize sponsored by the Friends of the Northbrook Public Library; a$1,000 Second Place Prize from VISOgraphic, Inc.; a$500 Third Place Prize from Library Furniture International; and three $200 Viewer’s Choice award from the Northbrook Arts Commission, Northbrook Bank and Trust and First Bank of Highland Park.

The Library hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
