Northbrook Public Library Staff Hand Out Free Books in Honor of World Book Night

April 23, 2013 was the chosen date this year in honor of Shakespeare’s birthday.  World Book Night will be celebrated in the U.S., the UK, and Ireland.

World Book Night U.S. is an annual celebration of books to spread the love of reading. This year it will be celebrated on April 23, 2013. Volunteers across America give a total of half a million free books from the World Book Night Organization to those in their communities who might not read on a regular basis.

The Northbrook Public Library staff feels privileged to be included in this event by greeting commuters and handing out free books at the Metra Station early in the morning and at Sunset Foods in Northbrook at noon and at 4 p.m. Bestselling authors Ann Patchett and James Patterson are this year’s honorary chair-people.
