Big week ahead in Northbrook. Here's what's on the docket:

Chamber Music Festival

The Chamber Music Festival will feature works of Brahms, Stravinsky, Mendelssohn and more during its three days of concerts, June 6, 8 and 9 at the Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Rd., Northbrook.

The renown Pacifica Quartet - currently the quartet-in-residence at the University of Illinois and regular performers during the University of Chicago Presents Chamber Music series - will play each day.

Each night will offer two performances, at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and each with a different program. Single tickets are from $20 to $40 per performance, $10 for students and seniors get 20-percent off. Tickets for all six performances will be from $45 to $95, with $20 for students and 20-percent off for seniors. For more information, call 847-370-398.

Rock Out Northbrook

If your tastes lean toward rock, ska, progressive Celtic and everything in between, you can take in eight bands at the finals of, from 6 to 10 p.m., June 8 at the .

Local music experts will judge the bands on sound quality, originality, musical ability and audience appeal. The grand prize winner will get $300 and the chance to perform at on June 26 and on Oct. 13.

The audience also will get into the act. Park district staff videotaped the auditions and posted the videos on the District’s Facebook page. The band that receives the most “Likes” before June 7 will receive a $100 cash prize at the finals.

In addition, those on hand will have a chance to win raffle prizes, including three-day passes to Lollapalooza and lawn admission to Ravinia. Tickets are $1 a pop, and winners will be selected that night, Pratscher said.

All ages are welcome at the free family event, and food will be available for purchase.
